Rock Band is Coming to The Wii!!
That's right!! It's finally been confirmed, Wii owners will be able to experience Rock Band in the future
The news came yesturday, in a third-quarter conference call today, Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello confirmed that a Wii version of Rock band is forthcoming.
Quote:
Riccitiello mentioned the game at the end of the call's question-and-answer session. There was no release date given, but Riccitiello referred to the "coming launch" of a Wii version of the game.
There's been speculation about a Wii installment of Rock Band's since the game was announced. In April 2007, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos said a Wii-specific version of the title would be coming out in the future.
Despite Rigopulos' strong statements, no official announcement had been made about a Wii version of Rock Band until Riccitiello's off-hand statement in today's conference call.
After the call, we contacted an EA rep for more details, but all we[IGN] got was a confirmation that, indeed, a Wii version of Rock Band is coming.
I've been waiting soooo long to hear that!
Excellent news!!

I think that it is no substitute for GH3 though. I think GH3 has a much better system, not that Rock Band is bad, but I would still pick GH3 over it. If you think Rock Band is going to be the same as GH, then be prepared to be suprised. The basic concept is the same, but adds a totally new spin on it. The only thing I would say is the same is the fact that you strum when and what it tells you to strum.
Plus, think about it. How would the instruments connect to the wii. They cant use USB like the PS3 version, meaning you may very well have to have 4 wiimotes to play all of the instruments together, and even if it is built in to the instruments, then the price will probaly be higher, since there was no wireless technology required with the drums for PS3

What do you mean the wii can't use USB? What are the USB ports at the back for then?
Personally I think it looks like a really good 4 player game! But I very much doubt I will be getting it. Not just yet anyway....I would want it so that I could play the drums but the drum kit looks expensive and it's going to need a lot of room.....
Well, I guess there are the two in the back, but alot of people have wireless keyboards taking up one of those slots, so I think that they will probaly require you have a wii remote to plug into all the instruments. But from playing both of the games, I still like Guitar Hero Better.
Sorry to bump an old thread, but surely you wouldnt need 4 wiimotes. Just use the Gamecube ports -4 ports, one for each instrument; GC controllers obviously work fine with wii games like SSBB and Mario Kart, so it would be no problem to make the instruments with GC connectors.
Wii Games: Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, Guitar Hero 3, Zelda: TP, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Paper Mario, Okami, Pro Evo 2008, Pokemon Battle Revolution

2 wiimotes for the guitars and two usb for drums and microphone, i'm sure people will take out the keyboard to play a game. or are people really THAT lazy? heh.
