Wii Fit Balance board to have LCD screen?

A rumor coming to us from WiiInsider, stats that the European and NA Wii Fit boards will be coming with a little LCD screen that acts like a scale and show your weight. The rumor comes from an “supposed” email from World of Games, a game retailer in Europe. The email was sent out to all of those who pre-ordered the the game.

Although this is an interesting development, I don't really see the point of it
Why can't the weight just be shown on the TV? Wouldn't an LCD screen on the board just use more battery life?
