Default Virtual Console Donkey Kong Advice

I am going to make my first VC purchase, and am going for Donkey Kong from the SNES

I played Country on the SNES and it was superb. Haven't played it for years, so was thinking I would just go for that again. I haven't played 2 or 3 before though. Are they any good, compared to the first one?

I also only had DK Country on the SNES(What a game!!), but I did play 2 and 3 also.

To me, number 1 outshone them. The 2 that followed had extra characters that took away the charm a bit for me and it just didn't quite feel the same. Don't get me wrong, they were still 2 very good games, but the fact DK country was the one you owned would make me recommend that one to you(To start off with anyway )

Oh and make sure you pick up a classic controller for SNES games! Playing them on a GC Controller is a quite a chore

Thanks for the advice. I think you are right about sticking with what I know, as it was such a great game

I will give it a shot with the cube controllers, as I have been spending too much on my wii recently and don't want to fork out on classic controllers, when I won't be buying too much from the VC

Always loved the original DK Country, so downloaded that as soon as I could.

I've now bought the second one too and it is quality, but I still prefer the first a lot more to be honest.

I bought the Classic Controller at launch and never used it; now I've started actually looking at what's on the VC and I've got a number of games and break it out more in the last few weeks than the preceding 6 months combined.
