It depends whether you'd like the songs that are currently on GHIII. If you do, then maybe it's worth getting it and the guitar, then when GHIV comes around you won't need to get the guitar.
Yea, look at GH3 songs. I personally really like the songs they have on GH1. I wouldn't mind seeing them make a GH: Collection that included some of the best songs from GH1 and 2 for the wii, things like Smoke on the water or Ironman. I would rather have something like that than GH:AS
