I read on another forum that this streaming affects your download quota - if you are on a 1gig/2 gig monthly limit, you need to take a good look at your useage before watching iplayer for the evening.

Just a word of warning, folks!

I think it's excellent news though, as I would far rather catch up with a missed programme on my TV than in front of my PC.

This is great news.

However:

The iPlayer will be accessible via the internet channel on the Wii console.
Does that mean I need to buy the internet channel? I guess so. Worth it, I suppose.

Superb news!

With big companies like the BBC getting behind the Wii, others are sure to follow! Who knows what could come next??

Now if Adobe will update the Flash player (it's being said that all the BBC did was back-port the iPlayer to support Flash 7 which is apparently what the Internet Channel plugin supports) to something more current a lot more things will be possible with the Internet Channel.

This is definitely a good thing to have for those times when we've missed a show by an hour or two...maybe a reason for the missus to want the Wii on for a change?

Yeh, HBO and stuff from the states, have US TV on demand, 5 months before they come on TV here

Didn't see this post lol, i just posted about this.

But if you read this, it says they are hoping to get the iplayer to work without the internet channel, so it will probs have its own channel soon

so... anyone care to comment on quality etc? 3 pages on how good this is for the wii, but can the wii actually handle the content, I know that sometimes watching youtube through the wii can be a bit hit and miss.

Watching at the moment and I've zoomed in to fill our 32" TV and i'd say it's around video quality at least!

I tried watching torchwood, although my internet wasn't doing good and couldn't stream it well enough (stupid router), it works fine, and has good quality for streaming...
