Default Mario Party 8 - First Impressions...

The long awaited Mario Party 8 arrived on my doormat nearly a week ago now from play.com and I only just got around to playing it last night!

OMG so much more fun than I was expecting! Plenty of mini-games to keep the fun flowing with the added bonus of being able to practice a mini-game before playing it for real!!!

The graphics are vibrant, crisp and clear (and that's on a standard CRT TV - not tried it on my own HD Ready TV yet) and is great fun for anyone who has their mates around!

The first game we played lasted for 15 turns or 2 hours 39 minutes!!!

The second game we chose 10 turns and it lasted just under 2 hours!

Fantastic game that at this stage I would recomend to everyone!

There is plenty of things still for me to try out so expect a full review in a week or so's time when I have given it a proper test drive...

Just keep looking around, many people have said they have bought the game, after the recall was put into effect. Try online shops or Toys r Us, they always seem to have stock.

My friend has this and it's already become the 1st game we play when we are all together!

15 turns will last you a good 2 hours and it's great fun! The mini-games are very varied and always a good laugh.
haven't had a chance to try out the one player, but if it's like previous mario Partys, it won't be anywhere near as good as 4 player!

I also like the extra minigames you can unlock and play with your Mii's! A nice touch I thought, It seems like there's more features in this than previous Mario Partys.

Definately recommended if you have a few mates that you can get together with

Just what I was thinking.

Great 1st impressions Wii_man, I so do agree. I wasn't expecting much, but picked up a copy, I think on release day (not sure). It was a bit of an impulse buy as I had some money burning a hole and decided to go for it. I have heard Game Cube fans rave about the series on these and other forums. I think it retailed at £29.99 as well.

Some of the levels you play on(each game board is quite different to the next) remind me of Snakes and Ladders, and the Tycoon board is a super competitive version of Monopoly.

Mini-games come into play often as you work your way around the board but can also be played separately. As in you could just battle your friends all afternoon on Mini Mario Kart- played with Excite Truck style control method, on any of the hundreds(?) of other tidy little Mini games.

There are also a collection of games that you can use your Mii's for. I can't deny, I was pretty excited to see my Mii's at a different bowling alley, ping pong table(far superior to Wiiplay's ping pong) and playing simultaneous baseball 'Whack it out the park' in 4 player split screen!

Now I have this game and Eledes I am very keen to but two more Wiimotes as both these titles I believe will provide the best 4 player action yet seen on the Wii.

Sorry for waffling on Wii_man and hi-jacking your thread, But who'd of thunk a board game on the Wii could be that much better than I thought it would be.

Excite Truck is great as a single player game and is fantastic if you like car games!

Mario 8 is (so far) a great game for you and all your mates/family to play!

Tough choice - why not get both?

Not come across that bit yet! I did see an image in the manual of some Mii characters, but as with most people - manuals are for wimps so I don't bother reading them! Perhaps I would get on better with games if I did...

You haven't hijacked my thread at all mate so carry on! You are sticking to the topic and giving all the readers your thoughts and oppinions on what is turning out to be one fantastic game!
