Several months ago I pre-ordered Wii-Fit from GameStation and it arrived (as promised) on the day of release.
Up until today it has sat in it box gathering dust as I have slowly been getting in the right frame of mind to use it...
This evening I decided enough was enough and I would start my Wii-Fit regime to help me start losing weight.
Lots of my friends keep on at me to pop it round their house so they can have a go on it as they think it looks fun, well I'm not saying it's not fun, but I get the impression they think it is a game, when it's not - it's just a unique and fun way to help you lose weight and/or keep fit.
After inserting the disk in to my Wii I was instructed to synchoronise the Wii-Fit board with the Wii and then the 'game' begun...
After entering my date of birth and height it duly told me that I was overweight - what a surprise that was (not)!
I have decided to use Wii-Fit once a day during the week and will have a rest at the weekend apart from maybe go for a short 7 mile jog on either a Saturday or Sunday morning.
After it told me I was overweight, it then let me have a go at balancing on the board and had me doing a few simple tests before telling me my Wii-Fit age.
As with Wii-Sports you can do a daily age test each day to see how you are progressing.
After getting my Wii-Fit age I decided to spend 30 minutes going through the different 'games' - jogging on the spot was quite normal and the Wii-Fit board is not used when doing this, skiiing was great fun and when I got to doing the hula-hoop I decided to draw the curtains to prevent any laughter erupting should one of my neighbours see me!
The instructions are very clear and precise and the 'games' are great fun and certainly help build up a sweat!
If you were thinking of getting Wii-Fit thinking it was a game you could enjoy with all your friends then I would hold off and rethink it, if however you were looking for a unique and innovative way of helping you keep fit, the £69.99 for Wii-Fit is a great buy - especially if you compare it to the cost of going to a gym.
And remember, using Wii-Fit alone wont make you lose weight, you will need to watch what you are eating as well - having a go on Wii-Fit and then eating a few doughnuts isn't going to do you much good!
