Default Manhunt 2, yes or no?

As I'm sure you all know Manhunt 2 is not (yet) been given the go ahead to be released, here in the UK. I think although Manhunt is very controversial and gory, it should be the gamers choice if they want to play it, not the rating people. Anyway I've set up this poll to fine out what everyone else thinks of this.

I don't care if they release it or not tbh, it's not my type of game. But I don't believe it makes people want to go out and kill people, as some people have suggested with Manhunt. The kids who usually end up in the spotlight are around 15, so it should be the parents resonsibililty to not let their kids play it, seeing as it will be an 18.

Interesting that you should say that.

A lot of you are younger - teenagers, yeah. I am a mother of 2 kids aged 10 and 8, who love their games.

I can honestly say that all their mates play games that carry certificate 16 and 18 on them and are clearly not suitable for their age group. That includes the Grand Theft Auto series, Halo on the X Box, Resident Evil and so on.

I have always made sure my kids only play games with 3+ or 7+ on the front. I have recently started letting them play certain games that are 12+, although I vet them first.

Their mates think they are soft because I do this and tease them quite a bit over it.

I am obviously one of the minority of parents who worry what their kids are playing. Most parents seem to let their kids play the worst games imaginable, but seem not to care because at least they are in their rooms out of the way.

So out of you lot, who has played "video nasty" games under-age with their parents' consent? And who has done it anyway without their parents knowing?

I voted No because I worry a lot about how violent games like this affect young minds. Gaming should be about having fun, not splatting people all over the screen one after the other in horrifyingly gory detail.

The thing with these games is that although they certainly shouldn't, they are aimed at kids. As soon as that 18 certificate goes on it every 14/15/16 year old wants it, COS IT'S COOL. I liked the 1st one, not sure how much different the 2nd can be but if it is released then there should be the same policy as alcohol etc, NO I.D. NO GAME, simple as. And if any parents are stupid enough to buy the game for their kid, then I hope they get strangulated by a carrier bag!!!! In their sleep!!!!
Sorry!!! But seriously, they should accept the concequences, don't ruin it for the sane ones and blame a computer game for the way your child behaves, take a good long look at yourself and blame your parenting.

Now thats a post worth rep if i have ever seen it.

about the games the biggest problerm is thats many kids can buy these games online using debate cards which can be obtained at the age of 11 which can be used to buy 8 games online i think that anything thta is 18 plus should onl beable to be bought online with a credit card because we can guarentee that no kids can get a hold of them. there are adults who say they dont want credit card but if they want the product that much buy it in the shops if there over 18

Another good idea! The government could learn a lot by reading these forums!

I hadn't even thought about the freedom a teenager has when buying games online.

Well, some very good posts there. I agree with the, its the parents responsibility, sentiment mainly. Although most 15/16 years olds I know are very sensible and yes they play violent games, but they don't copy them. They play these type of games because they get to do things that they wouldn't in real life, I'm not saying they all want to be crazy chainsaw wielding pyscopaths but that they get to have adventures and amazing experiences that just wouldnt be possible without games. Anyway I voted for Yes with warning because if adults and responsible young adults want to play it then they should be allowed in my opinion.

Thanks man!!! Well you know, these things really hack me off and I had some anger to vent!!!

Also, didn't even think about kids ordering online, how do they get cards??? Surely the parents wouldn't just say yes you can use my card, they would want to know what for, surely???

Not sure how 11 year olds get cards, I know you can get bank cards but I don't think they would work. Yes, unfortunately a-lot of parents give their child a credit card to order something without checking what.
