- all worlds are based off of real-life locations
- human characters have been created in a different style, to better match the look of Sonic and crew
- Sega was inspired by the the look of Pixar films when creating Sonic Unleashed
- 2D or 3D sectionsl ast around 15-20 seconds before one view is switched to another
- levels are roughtly 5 minutes long
- confirmed locations: Spanish villa, an African desert plain, Great Wall of China, and New York City
- Japanese title is Sonic World Adventure
- game starts in space dealing with Eggman
- intro FMV chronicles events from a past Sonic outing that doesn’t exist as a game

Bounding over and around a fleet of spaceships toward a final encounter with Dr Eggman, Sonic spins through the dark void of space and transforms into Super Sonic, only to be caught in on eof Dr Eggman’s machines. “Eggman uses a machine to corrupt the power of the emeralds,” Hashimoto explains. “So Sonic’s aim throughout Unleashed is to fix the emeralds by travelling the world to find shrines that will reverse the effects of Dr Eggman’s machine.”
