lol i loved the other unreal tournaments on the pc but i just didnt think it worked on the console prob enjoy it on the pc but i cant be bothered buyin a high spec pc to run the damn thing

Oh you played it on PS3...tsk tsk, got it on PC its a much better experience with a mouse-aim to a controller.

Interestingly, it isn't just Epic's games which the Wii will 'miss'. Apparently, and I'm not reading this from a web page, *clears throat and does a passable French accent* the associate producer of Red Steel Jean-Baptiste Duval, said in an interview with Australian video game magazine Hyper that the game runs on a modified Unreal Engine 2.5. He said that much of the Ubisoft staff had worked on the engine and knew its strengths and weaknesses. The graphics of the game have been designed to achieve a defining artistic style rather than photorealism..

So maybe Nintendo should put a little more effort into attracting software houses like Epic to develop the nuts and bolts of software for other 3rd party outfits to exploit? Just a thought.

there are games where the Wii remote just doesn't work (SSX Blur for me personally), but i disagree that it's all just pre-programmed actions that could be executed by the push of a button. great games like Mercury Meltdown and Mario Kart use the Wii remote's (analogue?) abilities and make it integral to the action.

plus, the Wii remote's not the only thing making the Wii shine creatively. games like Mario Galaxy and Zack & Wiki would be the business even without the Wii remote.

i don't mind that this Epic Games bloke thinks nobody plays on their Wii, i just think he's mistaken.

I don't see how a developer can ignore a market the size of the Wii's based upon anecdotal evidence of their peers. Clearly the guys just being a tit to get some free press. The Wii is the only console I would play an FPS on, so if Epic doesn't want my money then my money can go to other gamedevs willing to look beyond their own narrow points of view.

Sad news. We had a thread going a while back where someone else from Epic (strangely I had heard of their name before, but not this Mike Capps who is apparently the President of the company :rolls was saying that they weren't planning on doing anything for the Wii. At least that gives them room to possibly change their minds in the future, this just closes the door and if they ever do decide to develop something for the Wii this statement will make them look silly.

Also, Epic aren't known so much for their games as their game engines. Surely programming for the Wii could open up some interesting avenues when it comes to making the most out of what you have available, which could help with their other work.
