Played it once, didn't really see what all the fuss was about. Anyone care to share why they like it, to a person that didn't really see what its all cracked up to be? Just curious. Thanks folks.
It is extremely addictive and offers the illusion of actually creating music. It is an instant gratification thing with depth at the same time. The depth comes from the speed in which you have to move your fingers on the harder songs and the Star power paths you choose to get the highest score.
I agree on paper it doesn't sound like much but it is SOO addictive once you have spent some time with it. You kind of become entranced and forget you are just hitting colored buttons.
Besides rhythm games have always been popular (take the ninty bongos game, sega maraccas game for dreamcast / dance mat's etc) and it is just the natural progression of that genre of game.
I've never understood the obsession with it either. I've played it quite a bit and despite having fun with it I never found it as amazing as some people make it out to be. I enjoy rhythm games but I much prefer ones based around percussion, as that to me seems the logical thing for a rhythm game to be. DK Conga for example, that was fun because it was like playing real bongos, whereas guitar hero is nothing like playing the guitar. For that reason I find it less immersive than DK conga and honestly would much rather play a real guitar. GH is a fun game for an hour or so with your mates, but nothing more.
Nah. Guitar Hero has got loads of longevity for someone who loves rock music like me. If they managed to bring out DLC than I could safely say that I would play it for the rest of my life.

^^^^ Ditto'd!
Rock is definitely my genre as well, so being able to 'play' these songs is just awesome!
DLC would be the dream though and I know it was supposed to be happening this month for the Wii...
