It is a jap RPG yeah. But the original was very very long (about 70 hours) with an incredible story. Might even replay it as this one approaches.
THE STORY: - Basically the planet is dying and the only way to save it is for the *chosen one* to sacrifice herself to the Gods. They believe that this sacrifice restores the planet to life. a Sacrifice is needed every 100 years (I think it is) and the *chosen one* is predetermined long before they are born.
The combat system is sort of odd.. you assign moves to buttons on a 2d playing field and you have to sort of time attack swings to get higher grades / combos along with blocking and running. It starts off really dull but once your char gains a few levels you can really customize your set-moves.
But Lloyd was your typical cocky/whiny Jap star unfortunately. The whole games carries a very dark tone despite the visuals and it has a lot of balance / sacrifice. It is one of my fav GCN games. Look up a review of the original on GS / IGN for a better picture.
Lagger: - Yeah I liked the field.. it was fun to run around battling monsters.. I really loved the combat system.. had some nice depth to it and there were loads of easter eggs and cookies to be found (power-ups / story sequences etc) on the field :(.
