From what i have seen in general the price was the biggest killer for PS3.
It makes you wonder how much they are losing on each console and how much more they are willing to lose to try and make the PS3 the top selling console.

Pride above Profits? Surely not
It is an interesting point though...

I am a Wii owner who is certainly considering getting a PS3.
I think the Wii is a fantastic machine and it got me into gaming again after a couple of years of not bothering. I really love the Wii for so many reasons, but I am starting to long for something more.
I'm well into movies and I bought into the HD-DVD camp, with the intention of investing in Blue Ray down the line. I'm now addicted to HD movies but it seems silly buying loads more in HD DVD as the format has unfortunately run its course. My point here being that I am now even more anxious to get myself a decent Blue Ray player and at present the PS3 is still the best solution.
Another point for buying a PS3 is that old chestnut, graphics. I do feel as though I am missing out in some ways by just having a Wii. I have a pretty decent HDTV and I would love to experience some of the PS3's visual delights on there. I know graphics aren't everything but they are a big draw for me.
You may ask why I haven't considered 360, the truth is I have but I am very wary of the reliability and the fact that PS3 has Blue Ray built in is the deciding factor for me.
There is one other issue however that makes me think I should just stick with my Wii and that is TIME!. I live with my girlfriend (who is not a fan of computer games) and I work pretty long hours so the amount of time I get to play games is pretty small. I spend more time thinking about games than I do playing the damn things so part of me thinks that i just wouldn't get my moneys worth.
For someone in my situation I think the Wii is great. Its the kind of console that you can pick up and play for a half hour or so (and that my girlfriend can almost appreciate), it has a slow but steady flow of great games and the price is just so appealing.
Just my thoughts anyway, hope I haven't contradicted myself too much!
No interest in having a second console; the Wii has an engaging lineup. I've got 13 games in the four months I've owned it; I expect to double that in the coming year.
There's really nothing compelling gamewise on the PS3; the rehashed control scheme doesn't inspire and I'm not interested in BD playback.
PS3 To Be Must-Have Holiday Gift Thanks to Blu-ray:
Boston (dbTechno) - According to a recent survey by Entertainment Media Research, the Sony PS3 is expected to be the must-have holiday gift this coming shopping season, thanks to the games line-up, as well as the emergence of the high-definition Blu-ray format.
Now that HD-DVD is done and gone, with Blu-ray being the definitive medium for high-definition content, the market for Blu-ray sales is likely to expand vastly over the course of 2008.
The 2008 Digital Entertainment Survey which was conducted has found that many consumers are ready to embrace more high-definition content before the end of the year.
This is great news for the Sony PS3, which has a built-in Blu-ray player.
The PS3, according to the survey, will likely be the must-have item this holiday season.
The survey questioned 1,600 British consumers, and found that 24% stated that they would view a high-definition movie in the next 6 months.
60% of those who responded stated they were waiting to see whether Blu-ray or HD DVD would win the format war.
With the war over, it is expected that Blu-ray movie sales, as well as PS3 sales, will increase.
