I have a '2wire' BT branded wireless router (BT 1800HG). Comes with 4 ethernet ports.

I struggled setting it up to work with the Wii. My Wii would pick it up and attempt to test the connection but failed every time. Tried all sorts of settings out, but what worked for me in the end was changing the frequency of the wireless channel from '6 - 2.437 MHz' (default) to '7 - 2.442MHz'.

This router comes standard with PlusNet wireless packages and I believe since it is BT branded it will come with most BT wireless internet packages.

Default Problem with signal strength on DS with a WAG354G

Works brilliantly with Wii and DS, no problems at all. Initial setup can be a little daunting but Linksys support were fantastic. 5* recommended by myself.
I also have a Linksys WAG354G router. Connected to it is a PC (hardwired) a laptop (wireless) and a Wii (wireless). The Wii connects to the internet no problem once the WEP code had been inputted, however since buying a DS at christmas, have been unable to get the DS online, either via a game or using the web browser cartridge. There is never any signal strength bars showing on the DS, no matter how close it is to the router. The WEP code has been inputted into the DS and it shows the Linksys in the SSID settings.
Any suggestions most welcome.

Default Draytek

The fabulous Draytek Vigor 2600G also works a treat. Especially good for whole-house coverage as it has two antennas. It's about as far away from the wii as you can get in the house and I have no problems with reception.

All I can suggest is check the following on the router:
Wireless network mode is mixed
SSiD is Linksys
Wireless channel 1
Broadcast mode enabled
Transmit WEP key 1
64bit WEP code (10 digit)
Restrict wireless acess set to restrict by MAC address.

And the following on the DS:
Auto obtain IP address
Auto obtain DNS
Make absolutely sure that your MAC address is entered into the router properly, and remember that on the routers settings pages you need to save the changes to every page as you make the changes, you cannot just do 1 save for the whole lot.

Hope this is of some use.

Roger

Default update on poor signal strength on the DS

Roger,
Many thanks for the suggestions. I had to contact Linksys as I could not access the web site set up page, got some good help of a guy called Steve on the tech support "live chat", ended up having to reset the router completely to be able to access the set up page. He gave some some slightly different configuration settings to yours for the router, these worked ok after a couple of hours of no internet connection on anything due to some information missing from my username setting, once I had resolved this and got the computer back online, I was still having problems with the DS, (Steve had also given me some settings for the DS, based on using a static IP and DNS), on re-reading your suggestions I changed the settings on the DS back to auto obtain the IP and DNS settings and the DS is now online
Thanks
