Wink Scart Setup with Splitter

I have a tv with two scart sockets into which I need to plug:-

Cable tv box
video player
dvd player
and now the WII

I brought a basic scart splitter - but can't get this to work - when the WII is on the splitter box - it displays the WII and tv at the same time .....

Any ideas ?

Unless the scart splitter has buttons for each input then you are going to get the signal from any that are turned on.

If you want to play Wii, turn off the cable, video and dvd player.
That should work.

Think of something from your childhood, a vivid memory. Between that time and now, every cell in your body has changed. So, were you really there?

Has your telly got a composite input ie the yellow, white and red sockets at the front? If so use them.

Argos do a auto switchable box. It allows three inputs to one scart. The switching selects the last "power on" input to select. They're about £24.

Right got this sorted - got a scart splittlet 5 way from argos - the key seems to be to get one with press switches - rather than auto.

It was a right pain to get everything working - and the lot nearly went out of the window a couple of times !

thing is there are three types...

General splitters... x number of input signals to one output. x number of signals all travelling down one outlet.

Manual switchable... x number of input signals to one output. the signal is chosen by the button pressed.

Auto switchable... x number of input signals to one output. the signal is chosen in a similar way that tv's choose. Last one powered up gets the proirity.

Before getting my 19" HD Ready TV I used a manual SCART splitter thingy and it worked well. Now I connect via the 'HD Cable' and dont have the problem of not enough SCART sockets any more.

is that the 5 plug component cable? if so be warned that not all VC content will work in conjunction with the cable on some screens............I have to revert to the cable it came with (3 plugs and scart adapter),which is actually LOWER QUALITY signal than a proper scart lead, when playing SMW......
