Care of WII
Hello Guys,
Finally got a wii for my kids yesterday - a few dumb questions
The book says not to store it on the carpet - would storing it on the carpet be ok - provided it is standing up in its little thing ?
Is it ok to leave it on stand by - or should I unplug it each time ?
Is it ok to leave the disk - or should I eject ?
I must confess I wanted an xbox360 - to play Halo and gotham racing - are there any comparable games for the wii ?

Welcome to the forum and grats on getting your Wii
Not sure about the carpet thing, I've had it lying down on the carpet with no overheating or problems.
The console was designed to be left on 24/7 so you should have no problem there.
As for the disc in the drive, I've heard rumours of problems but I leave mine in every time and have had no problems since launch.
Hope this helps you.
Think of something from your childhood, a vivid memory. Between that time and now, every cell in your body has changed. So, were you really there?

my wii has been on standby for a while, and it is glowing at the moment. it's really not that hot (i wouldn't even class it as warm)
but just incase i wouldn't lay it flat on the carpet. i can't see a problem in the stand, but if your house does burn down please do not blame me

Personally when not in use, I turn it off at the wall. Heat and chips dont mix well in the very long term.
With regards to standing it on the carpet, wouldn't this make it a little bit unstable and if it fell over whilst reading a disk it may scratch it??
Mine sits on the stand that my TV sits on which is a hard flat surface.

I wouldn't stand it on the carpet myself, it gets too hot and I'm guessing it would quickly clog up with dust and stuff. It works by bluetooth and wireless so you could put it anywhere really, so long as the sensor bar cable reaches the tv.
As for the games I wouldn't consider any of them to match up to Halo, though I haven't played Red Steel or COD3 (avoid Far Cry though, it's rubbish).

Yeah, that should be OK it's exactly what the rubber feet are designed for.

forget call of duty 3, critical bug where you lose control of the game for a long period of time. Pretty annoying. XD

Maybe leaving it on the carpet could result in static? not sure really. I reckon the dust answer is probably the best.
