Default Unsupported

(Unsure if this is the right place to ask this?)

I bought Wii points in Game today (fed up waiting for Powerplay direct!) and got back to download Super Mario world for 800 points ..but it goes black and im getting unsupported? So took it upstairs to another Tv, and its works there!?, has anyone had this problem?
The gamecube controller is being used to play the game, but it's like as soon as you click on the game you suddenly get 'no signal' pop up.
Also I bought this cable http://www.consoleplus.co.uk/product_info.php?pName=component-hd-av-cable-for-nintendo-wii (another poster bought it so thought i'd go for it as i have an HdTv, but now and again the screen goes black for a few seconds, it doesn't do it with the original supplied cable.
So anyone had any probs with downloaded games or cables not working as they should?

With vc games being in 50/60hz I'm not entirely sure that they work properly on hdtv's. Try changing this in wii settings.

It ought to work on the new Tv... but like Craig said maybe its the settings?
My son really doesnt like the controllor (Gamecube one) for the downloaded games.... I wonder if buying the wii classic one would be any better.
