Default wii automatic update?

i'm not sure why, but at 3:00 this morning (14/02/07) i woke up to find the blue light around the disc drive on my wii light up, but the power light was still orange as if in 'sleep mode'. i left it with the blue light on just incase it was doing an important download, but when i switched it on properly in the morning 4 hours later, i couldnt see that anything had changed.

i still havnt had a proper look at it yet, but did anyone else's wii do this? it might only be consoles that have 'wii connect 24' on. i was just wondering why it did this... any answers?

thanks,
shwhjw

I noticed mine was on but I was already late for work so didn't check it.

It glows blue because you have got an email so maybe it is an email to say an update has taken place or maybe it mighter be something more exciting like a new feature or new VC games to buy.

Anyway, check your emails on the Wii and it will most likely be that you have a new mail!

Edit. I got beaten to it!

This happened me once and freaked me out in my sleepy state.. You can turn off the blue light in the options so it dosen't happen again..

Why would you want to turn the pretty blue light off? I leave it on, on purpose! But as others have said it is a message to say you have an update available or new significant software is available ont he software channel from ninty.

Hi guys, I'm new here

Well, this annoyingly happend to me about 3.00am today, and in a dark room it lit the whole room up...is there anyway for these updates (2nd time happened to me - 1st time I unplugged it, this time I dealt with it) not to cause the blue light to come on and why do they have to be at such an awful time?

Answers on a postcard...

Snazy, you can change your connection settings so it will only check for updates and messages when you turn on your wii.

I think its the wiiconnect24 settings.
