Default Do you think Microsoft and Sony will jump on the bandwagon?

Now that they have seen how popular the Wii with its unique controls is do you think Microsoft and Sony will try to cash in by designing third party sensors and controllers for their consoles?
With the extra power of their consoles it could be worrying for Nintendo or have Nintendo patented the sensor/remote concept?

I would be extremely suprised if they weren't patented. Nintendo wouldn't be stupid enough to not patent such a good idea!

All I know about the PS3 remotes is that if you have a PSP this doubles as a PS3 remote.

From what I have heard, the PS3 controller does have motion sensors in it but is nothing like the Wii Controller! The PS3 controller looks the same as a PS2 controller, except that it is wireless.

One thing I like about the PS3 controller is that it uses rechargable batteries and to charge the controller up all you do is connect it to a USB port on the PS3.

The only thing wrong with the Wii is the fact that you have to keep buying batteries!!!

The Wii is for a completely different type of gamer than that of a typical PS owner so I think the Wii will be around for many years to come...

I am not certain but I think the PS3 has a tilt sensor built into the controller which would be nowhere near the same as the wiimote.

As for needing to buy batteries, there are already rechargable battery packs and docking stations being made and I bet it is only a matter of time before Nintendo make an official rechargeable wiimote.

Until then you can buy battery chargers with AA batteries included for next to nothing like from places like 7dayshop.

Yep.
The PS3 has simple tilt controllers (mercury switches in effect) that simply give you 2 outputs : "tilted" and "not tilted" in those axis.
It has no rumble at all.

The Wii has tilt switches and accelerometers. It not only detects "on" or "off" but also varying degrees of both tilt and force in all axis.
It has rumble built in.
