Default First modchip revealed

Team Ninja has reportedly the first ever Wii modchip up their sleeves. The 5 wire modification will play Wii and GC backups of the SAME region, and is expected to retail for around 35 euro's. As you can see from the pictures below, its a simple looking mod and should be easy to install.

Think of something from your childhood, a vivid memory. Between that time and now, every cell in your body has changed. So, were you really there?

Wonder if it will affect any of the online stuff. I'm pretty sure that Microsoft did something that stopped you using x-box live if you had your xbox chipped.

The X-Box version of the chip could easily be modified to have an on/off swicth, this would allow you to play X-Box Live without having to worry about the Microsoft S.W.A.T team busting through your windows, celing and doors as soon as you logged on.
However, apparently, their magical servers of doom could detect your increased HD, and again with the Microsoft gestapo hauling you away never to see your family again.

How much of that was actually truth and how much was just propaganda spred by Microsoft to keep you too scared to log on with your modded console is another.

I think I will just wait untill they release the Freeloader disks, like they did with the Gamecube, that was a bit less drastic than chipping your Gamecube and you could play NTSC games. Pirated games I'm not so bothered with.

EDIT: Also this is close to release and sounds a bit better than the other one, http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=13934

I'm not interested in "playing backups...ahem" but am VERY interested in having a multiregion console so I can play ntsc 60Hz games.

For that, i'll just wait for FreeloaderWii and keep my warranty

If any of you do chip your Wii, post up how it went (would be interesting to see how they work in real life)

I didn't think that the Wii was regional which is why you can buy an American Wii and play European games....
