Yeah Ive read articles saying that the "Wii Speak" has been anounced, but I've seen several pictures of it which one out of these two will it actually be?

The top one is Wii MotionPlus, a 1:1 device which will help to read your movements more precisely.
The second is the actual Wii Speak which'll simply plug into the USB port at the back of your Wii and you can then rest the microphone (the 'semi-circle' bit) anywhere in the room to pick up your voice

I wonder how well that will pick up sound? If you consider it's meant to sit atop the telly while you're sitting across the room, it will probably pick up a lot room noises as well. I bet it's going to sound quite echo-ie. (Hopefully it won't be like taking a call from someone using their mobile phone and you wonder if they're calling from a public toilet.)

Well it's been designed to pick up everyone's voice in the room, so I imagine it's been thoroughly tested and probably has several filters to make sure only the voices are picked up, although you're bound to hear the odd strange noise... Especially if Snazy's online

It's certainly possible to filter things like this: I seem to recall military microphones having two inputs - one to record the persons speach specifically and one to record 'background' noise, then some relatively easy noise cancelation occurs between the two sound waves. I would guess that the Wii is capable of using the audio output code as the 'background' stream in that kind of system, but I'd be curious to see how well it works (however it works technically) in practice.
