Default Wiifit.

Did anyone buy this to lose weight and if so have you?

Wiifit was on the gadget show up against a very expensive (£3000 I think) exercise machine, it didn't beat it but did prove in the tests it made the presenter fitter.

This may be down to the fact she was up against the male presenter so may have gone over the top with the exercise in a effort to beat the male presenter.

Have any of the owners here noticed a improvement in their fitness?

Theres quite a few people in the Wii Fit thread that have lost a fair bit of weight by using it.

Funny how all the nay-sayers appear to have disappeared though.....

lol! i saw that gadget show episode aswell, normally they don't put lies into the show so i reckon it would help abit. Of course nothing like a proper gym, but it would still help while having fun

Anything that makes you exercise regularly will help with weight loss.

Prior to having Wii Fit I was 12st 7lb, now after 70 days and 28 and a half hours of exercise I'm 11st 11lb. Beer gut reduced.

Fitness has improved now using weights as I do basic step and my rhythm is better as I can do step aerobic with a respectable score.

It makes you think about other aspects such as eating, not because it tells you to but because you think I might miss the target if I snack on that.

You can do some exercises whilst watching TV (only jogging and basic step) which was great during the Euro's.

Never knock the Wii Fit.

You have to bear in mind that to lose weight, you must combine activity on Wii Fit with a complete change of diet and lifestyle.

After 50 or so days of using Wii Fit and taking note of all the tips it gives me, I have lost over a stone, and reduced my (obese) BMI by over 2 full digits.

I definitely feel fitter and people have noticed the change in me - it is significant.

But it wouldn't have happened without the strict diet that I'm on as well.

i had a go on my brothers one (first time i've ever played it) and i can tell you its absolutely great...its official, i now HAVE to get one ..

It said my BMI was just over 18 or something, so that makes me the lower end of Ideal....which i thought yes what a result...played about with things then tried out the jogging.
I then realised although my BMI was fine...my actual fitness wasnt...i was near death after doing the first basic jog....soooooo i better get fitter (the fact that next year im doing the london to brighton bike ride...if i cant do a simple jog on wiifit theres no way im riding 58 miles or whatever it is )

as sue said,

Its ridiculous to beleive a 'game' of this nature will guarantee to make you loose 'considerable' weight,

Loosing weight and keeping active/fit is a lifestyle, a few hours on a 'balancing board' is very marginal compared to an actual work-out, sure it might keep you active and provide a brisk workout.

I'd recommend using this parallel to traditional workout methods and diet changing to get its full use and bringing something new and exciting to the table
