Default Wii HDTV Component Cable

I just got one of these.

Maybe I am a dullard, but there were no instructions - there are 5 plugs for the TV end, is it going to be really obvious where I am supposed to put them?

There are three grouped together indicated by a Red, a Blue and a Green mark.
These correspond to Pr, Pb and Y and are the Video connection of the cable.

There are a further 2 grouped together by a Red and a White mark.
These correspond to Right and Left audio signal.

The back of your TV should have a set of phono inputs marked as component, that take 5 leads.
Simply match the lead to the input colour and away you go (make sure you don't mix up the Red video Pr lead with the Red audio Right lead).

If your TV doesn't have these phono inputs anywhere, then you've bought the wrong lead I'm afraid :(
...try routing them via your AV amp (if you have one) instead.

OK, I plugged it all in (it was simple!), switched it the 480p mode.... and quite frankly I am underwhelmed. Excite Truck looks no better, and perhaps even looks a bit worse...

It looks 'worse' because you can now see the pixels instead of just a blur

I noticed a difference although i had to take my telly back off the wall in order to plug the damn cable in, quite heavy and risky if you try by yourself

I thought it made the picture much sharper...

Is that a good thing?

I mean, the screen looks a bit darker, the trucks are pixelated and the text looks less sharp....

I noticed a big difference on my HD Ready TV when i used the HD cable. Mind you I only have a 19" set in my small room so it looks quite sharp to me.

From my understanding the HD feature on the Wii is not the full HD mode like has been seeon on the 360 so don't expect it to be as good as the 360 is when it is in HD mode, just better than the normal Wii picture.
