Default PIN Number Reset

My Wii is not connected to the web yet - but I went in to have a look at the settings - and it wouldn't let me in unless I gave it a PIN Number - Where do I get this from - and can I reset if I have lost it ?

Your passcode may well be written on your router somewhere
Other than that I suppose a mooch about in your routers settings could bear fruit

Oh and Welcome to the Forum Bill

(if the problem is accessing the settings on your Wii )

The standard pin is usually set to 0000.

If that doesn't work, keep attempting to enter a pin (or answer the memorable question). After about 6 efforts it will tell you to call Nintendo and give you a code to quote to them for the master reset code for your console.

I've googled this, its not for a router, if its for router then do what mojo said.

Is it second hand? if it is either contact the person you bought it if, or go into wii settings and hit "reset" or something, it will reset it to factory settings, meaning there will be no pin on it

Default PIN Reset

Try changing the country setting i.e. from the third page of the Wii settings menu. This worked for me - the PIN and all parental control settings were removed.

Background

I bought my Wii second hand and when I tried to access the internet settings, the PIN was requested.

I asked the previous owner and they said they hadn't set up a pin.

I eventually guessed the PIN, which was quite straight forward, but it was obvious from the 'mother's maiden name' answer that their kids had set this up.

After this I went on the weather channel and it thought I was in Ireland. Turns out the kids must have set this wrong too! But when I set this back to UK, a message appeared along the lines of 'resetting all parental controls' etc.

Hey presto - no longer a PIN.

Hope this works for someone else...

Bit random that, surely!

Also, I'm well aware 99% of you will hate me for pointing this out, but 'PIN number' doesn't make sense. Personal Identification Number number is what you're saying. Just PIN or PIN code is correct.

I hate myself for doing that, but it's one of those things I can't let go for some reason...
