Angry Virgin media Farce

Well, i'm finally online!

Virgin came yesterday to install my digital tv and broadband and what should have been a straight forward procedure turned into a disaster.

Firstly the guys battery in his cordless drill ran out half way through drilling the wall and we had to wait for it to recharge.

Secondly he didn't have the power lead for the digi box so we had to use my playstation power lead!

And to top it all off he couldn't install the broadband because they didn't have a ethernet to usb converter. They then left promising that someone would be around within the hour with the lead and setup disc, then, of course, nobody came.

After about half an hour on the phone this morning they sent some one around this afternoon with the relevant bits. So you've probably guessed that i'm not impressed with virgin (it was still telewest when i ordered the services!) Has any one else had problems with them?

Anyway, rant over, for now!!

ps the new look to the site looks great.

Me and my flatmates are looking in advance for broadband service for september next year and we were going to get telewest but now its virgin the pricing is different and the service isn't any good from what you've experience! Looks like it's gone down the pan! Hope you have less trouble for however long your contract lasts!

Well, we're with Telewest.......your experience doesn't bode well if that's what the service will deteriorate to though :(

On the plus side, it's one of only 2 services that offered (& still do) an unlimited/no-caps download service.
If you like downloading loadsa torrents, it's the uncapped services you need to concentrate on.

The other unlimited service is AOL....but they're a very poor service re:customer care, forcing you to use their poor internet browser, disconnections (from experience of friends who used to use them).

I haven't had any disconnections on telewest at all so far and, Judging by Virgin's bungling service, I hope I never have to contact customer care :(

Maybe i was a bit harsh. My instilation did take place on the same day that virgin media launched. And now that i've calmed down a bit i have to say that i'm quite impressed with the tv and broadband service - catch up tv on demand in particular plus theres a decent amount of channels. I think uktv g2 might become a favourite because they seem to show top gear all the time!

Telewest - I have great problems getting a correct bill of them - but I think they know they are cr*p - if you ring up and complain - they will sometimes do a deal -

Depends on how you look at it, could say Virgin removed it as they didn't want to pay anything extra!

Have to say Sky have been on a marketing warpath for Virgin customers since it all happened.

No drop in service since the buy out of telewest for me, still always works unlike many of my friend who use BT broadband

To be honest can't see that Virgin have a leg to stand on, they can't deny sky has been spending a lot of money on bringing in HD etc. Not to mention they never put their prices down once Sky one went so they are just as bad in my opinion.

Slag off Sky saying its not a fair price when they aren't fair to customers either
