Default neighbours? wifi

since my net connection has been down for most of this week i assumed that the neighbour had pulled the plug. however at 1.30 this morning it suddenly sprung back to life. i also noticed that the signal strength had increased to 2 bars (green) whereas before it hovered between red and yellow (0-1 bar).

i was just wandering what's the maximum distance range for wifi signals? my net connection only works with the wii perched about two feet up on the window sill pointed at one particular house that is about 100 yards away. if someone could clear this up you would solve a lot of head scratching my end.

ps almost finished decorating so i'll have my own net connection soon.

i trust that you've informed/asked your neighbour of your "shared" access?

Distance is dependant on surroundings.. buildings etc. my transmitter is in the back bedroom and i can get a 2 bar signal over the close to the front of the house... i think about 30 meters is possible in most circumstances....
