Welcome to the WiiTalk History Project.
Setup to catalogue and store all of the great events the forum has experienced.

It takes the form of a Wiki which you can visit here:

Contributions can either be posted in this thread, or you can sign up to the wiki here.
Editing the Wiki is simple, it follows the same system as posting here on the forum. It also allows HTML for those who know it, but it is not a requirement.

I will continuously update this post so that people don't have to read the whole thread to take part.

Sections that need contributions:
I have setup a base page for each member of the forum staff and bloggers, but it needs more information.
Mini-articles covering Famous\Infamous members.
We need an expert or experts on the MOH section to cover it's long history.
Could someone who knows about the board meet-up, please fill in the information. (pictures would be nice, but they need to be small. Page reserved for the next one.
Some articles on the Reputation saga.
WiiChalk article is a little lacking.
SSOA and Anti-SSOA.

the main events for me in my time here would be

wiihelps transformation to woodenboy one of the funniest moments of my wiitalk membership! it all got sorted out in a friendly manner in the end

shining wit a very popular almost legendary member with great spelling and grammar who got banned and is missed by many

wiimad jay a not paticulary friendly part of wiitalk history but he was a major player here when i signed up and i did have contact with him in the real world unfortunatley easily led astray and lived to regret it

as for a wiitalk hall of fame my choices would be

captainff (i live in hope of his return to me him and bidenden sue are wiitalk)

oakyboy (an allround great bloke who i miss having around! the forum needs some one like him here)

wiimad jay (yes he got on some peoples nerves but he was just a young lad and to me very likeable)

shining wit (gone but not forgotten many a laugh was had with him)

wiiman (he was a major poster in my early days and a big red dwarf fan like myself)

wario (not sure if he's left for good but another wiitalk legend)

I remember this as it was not long after I had joined, and it was the one and only time i got scammed online!

We were all discussing this cheap website, and no one was quite brave enough to take the plunge and see if they were legit. So I decided to take the risk and act as guinea pig for the forum.

I didn't do it again. No game, no refund, no more website.

I think loads of people around the country got scammed by that one. But at least my experience was recorded here and no one else got caught by it as well.

The irony is that i never would have tried them out if it hadn't been for WiiTalk, as I always stick with recognised sites, normally!

And while you're mentioning infamous members, maybe someone else would like to reminisce about Baboom?

OMG, yeah! JB freaked the forum out with an official announcement that WiiTalk was going to merge with WiiChat, our arch-rivals!

Some great info. starting to come in now.

If hillyjo13 hadn't mentioned him, I was going to mention Shining Wit. Towards the end I seem to remember some great posts.

I was hoping biddenden_sue was going to be the one to cover Gamechimp. It was one of the stand-out moments for me in WiiTalks history. Some in the thread thought it looked legitimate, others didn't. Then up stands biddenden_sue to save us all, sadly it turned out she was taking a bullet for us. I felt so bad.

WiiTalk Ghost.
After strenuous research () I found that the first mention of the ghost, was by FooFan, in a thread by Hayley called post being deleted!!??!! A few threads she created had disappeared, no-one could offer an explanation. Panic soon spread throughout the thread, but nothing more came of it until a new thread was created by biddenden_sue, My Smillies have been SHUFFLED!
She had noticed that the smilies in the box (when typing a post) had changed order. Later several others including myself experienced the problem, no explanation...
We thought the mystery had been solved when Ashy (Admin) turned up after a break. But he didn't know anything about it.

So the mystery shall probably remain forever.

The MOH thread probably needs a blog on its own but probably worth mentioning ie. Part 2 of the MOH thread, <mojo> becoming the first thread moderator, the banning of a member due to said game, the ongoing hatred between said member against FooFan etc etc.
