Default Websites Your Opinions

Hi,

well as I have been making sure everyone is aware, I am in the process of setting up my own company, and this weeks our servers are finally allowing our websites to work. I just wanted your thoughts on the websites.

www.mkfunrun.co.uk is now live..

www.project1events.com
www.project1events.co.uk will be live by the end of the week.

They are both simple sites for ease of use... But what are your thoughts towards them?

Thanks in advance, your critiques both positive and negative will be considered for our next event.

Cheers

Alex

Not a fan of the funrun one if Im honest mate.

Colour scheme is only gripe, just doesn't look nice on the eyes to me.

Thats fair enough.. The fun run website, was designed to be out there (i.e by all design rules for colour its WRONG)...

We intend to use colour schemes that suit the rest of the events, that are more subtle and less harsh to the eye.

Cheers for the comments though.

Alex,

I'm no web designer, but I do have a few comments which may be constructive, and hopefully not too destructive regarding the fun-run site.

I'm not going to mention the colour as that has already been addressed, but I do agree with Hardcastle, and also your justification as to why you've done it that way.

Personally I would try to make the links down the left hand side a seperate frame, along with the Heading. This would be as opposed to having it all as one page. In essence you need 3 frames, one with info in it, the other two static, especially the links for easier navigation.

With regards to the content, I would look at changing the font. Personally my fave is Comic Sans. It's a lot softer and will go with your header bar. Which, whilst I think on, is great, although you could trim down the top bit to allow more screen space.

The site doesn't really state where the event is being held, and I would also suggest making your email addy in the Sign Up page attatched, it isn't at the moment, or rather it isn't working. This is also the case on the Contact Us page.

Sorry if it all seems a bit picky, but hey, you did ask.

Other than that, good luck with the event and I hope it all goes well for you.

Squigs.

P.S. If you want, I could give you the link to my now obsolete HP where you could rip some code off it if that would help.

I understand this and it makes sense to me.. Im not so keen personally on the 3 frames system, but take your thoughts on board. Hopefully my project1events.com will be online soon and you can see the comparison (though this is also not done by frames).
I will consider frames for the next few websites which are being built presently (need to do another 12 over the next couple of months.)

Thats fair comment, and I agree maybe with the style of this event, it needs to be more fun. I will have a look and see how it feels with the content font changed.

As for the the big block thats fair comment too.

I am going to add a map to the site soon. Its one of those things that we needed the website on the server before we could add the map. The email addresses are innactive because were having some technical difficulties, but I am probrabally going to put a form in place now, as this is easier and again we couldnt do it until it was up on the server.

Yep thats why I asked. Its my first event, first professional website online.. I need the help.

Erm, basically I phoned up Highland Springs marketing department, and explained the full details for a different event that my new company is running in March 09. They then looked over the ideas, and documents we sent to them and then got back in contact the other day to say they would like to be the official sponsor.

Basically we are getting around £3500 worth of bottled water for a Half Marathon event.
