It's nothing like the other Pokemon games. You just wander around looking for different po0kemon, taking photos of them when you spot them. I think you buuild up a pokedex of the critters that you have photographed so far.
We used to have it on the N 64, but my kids got bored with it.
There's only so many times you can keep travelling around the same landscape looking for new pokemon.
Not the best way to use 1000 points in my opinion.
Games owned (that I play): EA Playground, Endless Ocean, Excite Truck, Ghost Squad, Gottlieb Pinball, HotD, Kororinpa, Link’s Crossbow Training, Mario Kart, Mario Party 8, MySims, Pinbusters, RE:UC, Super Paper Mario, SSB Brawl, Wii Fit, Wii Play, Wii Sports

I'm also a Pokemon lover!
So, is it the right choice? Is it a long game? Thanks!
Well I've never played the game before, but if you are really into pokemon, the chances are you will like it. Although it just involves taking photos of pokemon.
I highly recommend Paper Mario and F-Zero X on the N64 though. Both are true classics of the console and are much more widely appreciated than snap

How about another system?
SNES has loads of great games, and Bomberman for TurboGrafix is an absolute classic!
If it HAD to be one of those 2, then I'd personally go for F-Zero every time, but if you don't like racing games, there's not going to be a lot for you.
Looking at the reviews from both, I get the feeling that F-Zero stands the test of time a lot better than Snap.
Whichever you chose I'm sure you'll get at least an hours worth of fun
