I just wanted to put an idea forward and suggest a smash tourny at Console Lounge. We have 15 screens one of which has a wii aready so 14 people could bring their wiis and copy of the game and we could get a kind of lan going.
wat do you all think? its just an idea at the moment.
I've got an idea in my head, but obviously we can only put it into action when the 27th arrives.
I had in mind two options:
A 32-man knockout tournament. Everyone is randomly drawn into 2-man brawls with a stock of 5, with a random choice of stage. The winners of the matches proceed to the next rounds, until we reach the final. At the final, the result will be determined through the best of 3 matches, 1 match chosen at one players chosen stage, the 2nd being played at the other players chosen stage and the last match being played at a random stage (if needed), all of which being played with a stock of 5.
or.....
A 32-man knockout tournament with 4 man brawls, instead of two man brawls, with two routes, 16 players either side of the final spot (e.g...... __---{FINAL}---__.......).The matches will be of a 5 stock limit as before. The winners of each round are the last two standing in the match, from then on, the remaining two fighters can fight it out for the win, both competitors will progress to the next round. This applies for all the rounds up until we are left with 4 brawlers, 2 from each route. From then, winner of route 1 plays a 2- man brawl with 2nd place of route 2 and winner of route 2 plays 2nd of route 1, in a 5 stock brawl. Then, the final is played out in the method mentioned above.
What do you think guys? I would be well up for running this Brawl tourny

I think a Brawl Tourny is going to be in high demand, just like when MK was released.
This thread is pretty old and I think if you want to run it Alpha, it might be worth setting up a new thread to discuss ideas and get helpers

Them brawl tournaments sound wicked Alpha, Im alot better 1vs1 than I am 1vs3 which is a given but its difficult to keep track of 3 other fighters.
Set up a new thread soon and we can discuss rules such as items etc because I think people will want to unlock everything before these tournaments commense

Just one problem with unlocking stuff. I dont know how to unlock everything in Brawl, but if its similar to Melee, that could take months , especially if we have to unlock characters through playing vs matches .

Im pretty sure you can unlock every character on the one player modes like emissary, you can always set a 1v1 brawl with one life on 300% sudden death and keep playing over and over but it would get tedious
When I got melee I unlocked Mr Game and Watch very quickly since I was practically addicted to it and my mates were around all the time playing think we played it from thursday evening to monday morning once
There was a thread made with full unlockables and how to get them but Im guessing you dont want any spoilers which is fair enough, Im looking to unlock things very quickly this time - I have my eye on 3 brawlers Im going to chose(Falco, Toon Link, Luigi probably but I want to try everyone and adapt) and I can see what my favourite stage is already - The wind waker stage with the boats
Veyr excited about this game....come one 27th!!!! All exams done with aswell so plenty of time to play
