Over modding?!

This site has the best team of mods, and admins, that I've ever seen on a forum.

I think this is a brilliant idea which would stop arguments...You see, this forum is so touchy, if you say a few words then you get slated and basically treated a whole lot differently for being 15 - even though your views are just as valid as adults.I read in a recent survey that employees felt most ageist more than anything else...

And I thought Irony had something to do with metal.

A seperate forum isn't something we would need, however I do enjoy a good debate with well reasoned discussions, such debates allow us to open our minds to new ideas or simply rethink our own ideas, which gives us an opportunity for growth. At the very least seeing something from someone elses perspective can help us understand more about the world around us, I'm in favour of that, so if it's something that's on your mind start a thread and we can discuss the issue.

What I wouldn't want to see is a thread where the topic of discussion takes a back seat and then the only discussion left is where a group of people start insulting, taking would might have been healthy debate and turning it into a flame war. We have had a few threads like that on here, and these have all been dealt with promptly, we have also had a few members join who seemed to be baiting people to start such threads, also these members were dealt with promptly. The mods on here do appear to lock more threads than I've seen on other forums, though I have yet to see anything that's been locked without good reason, and by doing so they send out the right messages about where the line between making a good point and making a personal attack lies.

Slightly off topic: As for age, unless people tell me their age I tend not to look it up on their profiles, a well written and properly thought out response is read that way, don't for a minute think that when answering a question the correct response will become incorrect just because of the date on your birth certificate. Simple things like spellchecking and well written sentences will make posts easier to read, and often get a more positive response then text type or slang, but such posts are not always a reflection of the age of the person who posted it. I know I for 1 often go back and re-edit my posts as my flow gets me going and I miss letters or even entire words as I type.

What a bizarre contradiction this post is

In light of our recent argumentative topics in the General Section of the forum; anyone feel this would be worth doing? Or still think it's pointless?

I hadn't seen this suggestion but i've had the idea a few times and refrained .

I think it is a good idea ... I don't know how you're thinking of implementing it but I suggest maybe have a single thread with a weekly topic .

I'm not sure its totally necessary, unless you feel like our Real Life section is overrun with out of the Wii topics.

Decent idea, but isn't this covered in the Real-life section?

Sherlock dude has a kind of debate going hasn't he at the mo, and i've seen a few others, with views being put across well and orderly...

Or did I miss the point of this suggestion?

Edit: Sherlock kind of stamped all over my point, but at the mo, he is GOD!
