advertising gone mad. - WiiTalk

Why are all the threads filled with ads? When I signed up, rather than lurking, part of the bonus was that the threads could be read uninterrupted by advertising. Did I miss something? Or is this now how the forum will be viewed? Can one of the mods / admin let us know if this is a) my problem, b) a forum problem, or c) how it is going to be from now on?

Yea they are rather annoying. I know they are in place to help pay for the forum, but I'd rather they be at the top and bottom rather than after every post. You scroll down thinking it's a new post, when really it's just an advert.

I'm sure previously the ones in between posts dissapeared once you logged in, but now they seem to be there all the time. They do tend to get in the way of the posts now though.

Are costs spiralling out of control or something? I suppose if a few more of us viewed some of the adverts every now and then that might help?

The ads are added by the server provider and have nothing to do with profit or cost at Wiitalks end.

It's google that own these forums, it can only get worse

Hi,

Thought I would clear a few things up.

I have been tinkering with the adverts recently.

All adverts are in place to help fund the forum and for future developments.

I do not make any profit from this site, it all goes back into the site whether in terms of design, advertising, VB hacks or server costs (these are just increasing monthly).

I will have a look at maybe just supplying ads to people with 50 or less posts or something similar to that - but give me a few days to work on this.
