I suppose one major factor is whereabouts the site comes up in a search.

For example, if the forum is football based, you'll not get very many members as there are a load of football forums about and the one you're a member of probably won't appear high in a search list. Whereas I'm sure that if you type "wii forum" into google, WiiTalk will be very near the top.

Yeah that certainly helps, I'm pretty sure WiiTalk comes top as well...

But it's not only that, there are only 2 main Wii Forums that I'm aware of and the other one's member base is mainly american, so that's why most UK users come here. Also the recent closure on the ONM forums have helped along with the general friendliness and great community of the forum of course

It's funny looking back at this thread and thinking how massive an achievement it was to get to that big 1,000...
