'Spam Area'

This would be great, just think about those times where your so angry but you dont wanna take it out on your keyboard so you just type random thigs lol (kinda what im doin now ). How about it ?

A spam area might be a good idea.

I have seen spam areas on other forums and they work quite well.

Anyone advertising anything tends to post in that area instead of all over the place in other parts of the forum.

It might make combatting spam a bit easier?

What I will do is run the new and current anti spam features for a couple weeks / month and see how we get on. If there is still a problem I will look into a spam area.

Although you guys cant see it, we have managed to catch quite a bit of spam recently.

I think this is a bad idea, and I'll give you my reasons for this:-

1) Any kind of 'spam area' will just promote the posting of useless posts and threads, which will contribute nothing to any meaningful discussion and will make the forum look untidy.

2) Seeing the forum have so many spam posts and threads will result in the forum looking unprofessional and as if this is an environment for younger people, who just want to post 'duhfvjdgbdif' whereas we want to make this a mature forum!

So I think it's not a good idea.

we use to stand in que for lunch and peeps used to draw on the walls, my school laws were made partially by the kids so foronce we had laws that made sence mosly, and painted the wall white declaired it a graffitti wall, end of problem yea i know i cant spell i spent my youth graffittieing walls :P

If you want to see what happens when the mods give up with the spam blocking, take a look at this sad forum! There are over 12,000 members there.

But wait, most of them are spambots.

Can we perhaps avoid spam altogether and use the forum for a more positive interaction?

If you feel the need to type random things why not just open a word document?

Im not talking about just putting this on and stop any other methods of fighting spam and in response to the comment about it making the forum look untidy, we could just make the threads veiwable only if your in that part of the site/sub-forum (if u know what i mean)

I agree with you, it would be a bad idea.

But if you do decide to make a Spam area, disable the post count in this area. Because else it will get out of control, and some people will have thousands of posts just by typing 'hsfduifhdsui' rather than the others who have a few hundred, who contribute to discussions about the Wii.
