From what I gather, you can store photos, music and video files on there. I'm guessing that (like the 360) some games copy across files to speed up loading times.

That's what I don't get. Why pay over the odds for a console that does what your computer can do? A games console should be for playing games. Sony could lower the price massively if that were the case.
