Yes there is a new psp, but its not the psp 2
Brand new better, thinner, more harddrive, built in camera (eyetoy). Due for release sometime in 2007.

If that picture is of the new PSP then the thumb stick is still in the wrong place, although it will probably be quick good, PSP is quite a good handheld in my opinion.
