PS3 Update download problems

Im just wondering, is anyone having problems downloading updates for their PS3 games, cos i am.

I just this morning got my PS3 online and i got a notification for an update to GTA4, so i let it go on and then it freezes on 5%, then after 5 minutes i get an error message with the code 80710723.

Does anyone have some sort of solution to this cos im stumped?

Give this a try:

Forward the following ports to your PS3's ip

TCP:80, 443, 5223

UDP:3478-3479, 3658

Then disable upnp in your router's settings

I've disabled the UPnP in the PS3's internet connection settings, but how do you forward those TCP and UDP addresses to the IP, can that be done through the internet connection settings as well?

Heres the message i get on the internet conenction test

OBTAIN IP ADDRESS - Succeeded
INTERNET CONNECTION - Succeeded
PLAYSTATION NETWORK - Succeeded
UPnP - Disabled
NAT TYPE - Type 2

The router in use may not support IP fragments, and the communication features of some games may be restricted.

What router do you use sorry? go back into routers settings, Find your IP of the PS3 by looking in DHCP and note it down... and then there should be a setting called "Virtual Servers" or "Port Forewarding" all you will basically have to do is, (on my router) Belkin Wireless 54G F5DXXXXX ? I go to virtual servers and see this page.

Then enter the Port foreword numbers in the above post. and the IP of your PS3.... And click save.... you will have to do this for each number.
I.E TCP:80, 443, 5223 this will take 3 virtual servers.... I probs havent explained that very well. But I will try and find an link to some forum explaining more lol.

My router, its a Linksys Wireless G.

I know you're trying your best to explain it mate, but its very confusing to me. The daft thing though is with my Wii, i never had these problems (just with the VC games but that was down to a faulty SCART)

Im in it now, i hope this works wothout messing up my router to begin with, heres wot it looks like



Could you jsut tell me where to put what and ill do the rest, cos im wondering, the UCP settings (TCP:80, 443, 5223) is 80 the application and the 443,5223 the start/end range?

It wont me it up... at the end of the day all you will have to do is remove the port forewards

I dont think i'll need to do that, the PS3 i think uses its own IP address, independent to that from my PC and my Wii.

The Parts where it says Application, Start and End, i presume thatw where you input the aforementioned TCP and UDP numbers, sorry for asking, but could ya just tell me which numbers go where

I went through the default 192.168.1.1 by the way
