Hi guys, Im considering treating myself to another console. I originaly wanted the 360 just because I had an xbox and loved it but due to it being the first of the latest machines out, theory would have that it'l be the first to be phased out and replaced by the next microsoft box before the next sony version. I love the idea of having a PS3 and the potential it has but the price is marginly steeper, although price is important it wouldnt stop me paying the cash for the goods. So was just wondering what other peoples opinions where for one box or the other.
Also what does the size of the hard drive enable you to do? I know about the 60GB version being able to play the PS2 & PSX games but can only get these second hand. Is it just for game saves etc. so 40GB be more than enough or do we start talking about upgrades?

I got a PS3 with GTA 4. It is an excellent machine!! I've also got Call of Duty 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4 - both amazing games. The graphics are quality and the game play for all three is just what I was looking for!!!
I also had Quake Wars, but it was lame really. It sounded great on paper but was awful. btw, my poll ended up 12 for Xbox, 17 for PS3.
GTA 4 COD4 and Gran tourismo are the games i'll be looking at the graphics just look amazing, I remember when I bought my PS1 I said to my brother "imagine what the graphics would be like in 10 years time, it' be like watching the movies" it seems i have mystical powers LOL.

As for blue ray its not that important, it be nice to have dont get me wrong but when you have just got rid of all the vhs and replaced with dvds its a bit soon for me change the library again. im gonna get slautered here but never played MGS
Then it's got to be PS3!!! I got mine 1st of May, and haven't looked back since!! It's well worth the money. I still rate the Wii though. MOHH2 keeps me coming back, and I've had SSBB on import since March. Mario Kart is hard to forget about too.
EDIT: I'd never played a MGS game either, but this one is excellent! I got into it in no time and am thoroughly enjoying it!! It has online play too which is very enjoyable.
It all depends on what games you enjoy kevster, 360 has better games and better online play which won it for me, the ps3 is the overal better console but some of there exclusives are lacking. Uncharted and MGS are the only exclusives that are decent. I may be biased but meh.

i own both consoles and to be honest there is no difference no matter what it says on paper, both consoles are as good as each other, so your decision should be made on the type of games you want, cod4 and gtaIV are on both consoles (as you already know). Might be worth looking at future releases for both consoles too, that might influence your decision.
As for the version of ps you get most if not all ps3's in the high street stores are now 40GB, you will only get 60GB as you said second hand, on the rare occasion you see them new online, but you can upgrade, i had a 40Gb but this morning upgraded to a 160GB hard drive. Not sure if MS is bringing out a bigger HD for the xbox, i did hear somewhere that they were.
Oh yeah if you like online gaming then go for the xbox as its online is far superior to the ps3's, ok you have to pay but who cares if you get an excellent service
I was hanging by my finger tips on the the ps3 side but the swing O meter as just put me back in the 360 corner. Just been doing so research regarding the harddrives, It appears I (i may be wrong) that the game disks you buy for the ps3 partially loads onto the hard drive. Now a site I come accross just scared the bejebus out of me N4G.com : The Bourne Conspiracy PS3 Requires 5GB Install This is saying the bourne conspiracy downloads 5GB on to the hard drive. now if this is the way things are going on 40 GB PS3 that allows you just 8 games with no other content involved which I presume is extremely unlikely so say maybe 7, 6 games?

yes you are correct, this does happen, well i know GTAIV does this, not sure how much space it uses thou, why dont you go for the xbox 360 elite then, it has 120Gb hard disc, correct me if i am wrong
