the xbox 360 elite then, it has 120Gb hard disc, correct me if i am wrong
No that sounds correct, I have to say that at present the 360 is more appealing with this latest news about hard drive hogging. Im just put off by how many years i'll get out of the xbox untill they replace it?? I know this is still some way off but surely the PS3 will be around longer due to it being very much in its infancy, why oh why did they withdraw the 60GB then there'd be no contest for me. As for the Xbox I've read that there a few problems with it due to breaking discs, over heating due to the speed of the spinning.
I would say go buy a 60 GB online if that would make it for ya.
What you are talking about the 360, there are 2 things that I am interpereting.
1. There is a problem that if you bump the console while playing, the console will scratch the disk and I read an article that microsoft said it wasn't their resposonsibility.
2. Some of the consoles have faulty cooling systems, which makes the console get the RROD.

pretty much agree with that you say there in your points, but i'm speaking from from what i read on other foroums nothing from official reviews, you'd think with google you'd find some profesional reviews all get is useless rubbish!
The 360 problems are just blown way out of proportion by the PS3 fanboys. I don't know anyone personally who has had their console break down, other than me, however mine was due to a faulty disc drive caused by my brother dropping it when he owned it. The only place I've seen reports of break downs are in threads about broken 360's! At the end of the day you should decide whether you want the Blu-Ray as well. Another consideration could be what consoles your friends own, so you can play against them online.

Id go along with that, especially if you want to keep your PS2 games.
Now i own a PS3 and speaking frome xperience, it is a good system, not fantastic but good, the big advantage it has over the 360, free online play. Yes it doesnt have many exclusive titles but they're slowly coming through (the long awaited Metal Gaer Solid 4 came out recently and hopefully soon a new Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo)

I have an xbox (original) that got RROD and typically a month after the guarentee ended, sadly microsoft wanted too much money to fix it. I declined.

I have considered these options, blue ray to me would be nice addition though not an important one. I have a complete library of dvds that im just not gonna get rid off untill they truely have had there time, besides you can pick up dvds at the fraction of the price of BDS. Online against my circle of friends would'nt be a massive thing as they either dont own consoles. I have one who plays religiously with a group of friends he has, owns the 360. and another who has PS3 but not the sort of guy to stay in and play online. I could always join the 360 group but I couldnt promise them i'd be online at a specific time week in week out. My work life and Mrs justt wouldnt allow it!!

Obviously PSN is free however XBL is vastly superior and well worth the £25 per year.
What makes the xbox online so superior compared to ps3?
Your Xbox original broke down?! Jeez, mine took some right abuse and is still going strong.
The advantage of XBL is that it unifies every game across a single dashboard. I could be playing Halo, see my friend log in on the dashboard, and instantly invite him into the same game I am in. Likewise if I see my friend playing a game I can invite myself into the same game if the rules permit it. I can also open multiple chat channels (4 rooms+ the game chat room). You can also view any information on your friends (what game they're playing, what they're doing in that game, achievements etc...) and also view people you have recently played so that you can add them to your list. The whole thing is just so complete that it's easily worth the price it costs. PSN is a lot more basic but it's free so it does a good job for what it's worth, just like XBL.

Im sorry but.
The only advantage ps3 has over 360 is blu ray.

PS3 Exclusives:

Gears of War 2
People use Blu Ray as an excuse. Why? Just because HD is discontinued doesn't mean it is not good. I know someone who got an 360 add on & 5 (good) HD DVD's for £30. 1 Blu Ray film = £20. Blu Ray is much more of a rip off IMO
Games I own: Mario Kart, Pro Evo 2008,Carnival Funfair Games, Wii Sports
