dunno maybe nostalgia, prefered storyline..... and the Radio was great, gotta love lazlow on Chatterbox.
GTA:SA has all the improvements like planes / choppers / bikes / etc. and if you want all the bells and whistles go for San An.
never played the Stories, so cant comment on them.
I would say try to get PC versions of PS2 versions, PC ones always have slight improvements (eg GTA1, PC had trains and fire engines)
Also, you really cant compare GTA1, GTA3 (the series) and GTA4.
Especially if your using graphics as a basis.
