I agree that it is easily possible, and I am disappointed its not backward compatible, but in the modern world money = power

I guess it comes down to how much of the hardware would need to be changed to allow it,

as far as I'm aware an emotion chip is needed to allow ps2 play, which would put up costs considerably and for people like me who already own a ps2 slim I really don't want to be paying extra for something I personally dont care about,

but I can see why people do want and how its an annoying problem,... maybe when their slim version ps3 hits shelves we might see backwards compatibility?!

Heres hoping, but i think a more compact PS3 is a good couple of years away.

In the meantime, a cheap PS2 slimline or a second hand 60GB PS3 are the way to go
