Default Review - Trauma Centre: Second Opinion

Couldnt spot any reviews on this anywhere so i thought i'd write one for you!

I bought this game after talking about it with a few friends who had either bought or played the game, and hearing mixed things about it, but it sounded like something a bit off the norm, and the reviews n the net were good, so i thought i'd give it a go for myself!

So off i went to Gamestation and picked it up for 30 quid.

Not particular a lot of modes to play in, just the career mode, but then, theres not a lot of other modes you could put in this game!

The game itself starts off quite slow, mainly because your "assistant" is telling you what does what with regards to your tools of the trade. Once this is out of the way (first couple of operations) the game moves along quite quickly. I was actually quite impressed by the game, and found that once i start, it was in the wii for a few days, with only breaks in between for work and guitar hero!

If your looking for something a bit different, this is well worth a play IMO, although it doesnt take an awful lot of finishing, there are 3 difficulty modes to play through (took me 3 hours ish i think, on easy).

Overall:

Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 5/10
Gameplay: 8/10

My score might nt be particularly high, but for me, none of the abouve things really "made" this game, it was the fact that i actually "wanted" to get through each operation to see what happened next! thats not to say that the operations wern't fun!

First review so be kind lol, any questions, ask away!

Question my 2cents

I remember seeing an advert for the game before peep show (or some other program) and thinking that looks like a laugh.

The game itself is based on fact, but with made up procedures.
If your looking to learn abit about medicine this isnt the place.
I am not dismissing the game, as it is fun, but maybe Nin missed the boat with a side order of educational fun, or prehaps that would have taken the fun away from it all.

The story line to be honest annoys me, and I find my self skipping it, but the graphics are lush, and admit to fancying the second nurse quite a bit.

I did worry that I would have to played the ds game to get it, but luckily this was not the case.

The wiimote works pretty much perfectly, but slitghtly off when using the scaple..nurse more gauze please.

At first the difficulty is quite easy, as covered in the other review the assistant talks you through, then later the difficulty increases as the nurse refuses to help you (lol) and you find yourself screaming at the tv "I cannae remember what to do!" tsk. This does not get frustrating at all, in fact thats what making it fun, in a classic nintendo vane, its kinda difficult, but in the same token fun and easy. (but difficult) If that makes any sense??

Overall:

Graphics: 9/10
Sound: 2/10
Gameplay: 7/10

I would have scored gameplay higher, but skipping the story line annoys me.
Sound is low, because there is not much really going on in that department.

wii_domey has a very good point on the controls, they do work perfectly, even if my wiimote seems to be completely inaccurate, whatever game i'm playing! :S

The storyline didnt bother me at all, i wouldnt say it was a brilliant story, but at least it has one! Reading through the odd bit of text wasnt so bad i skipped it all.

I defo agree that the difficulty is part of what makes it fun, and the graphics are very good
