As you get out of your ship you notice the enviroment. The size of it is one thing, but the design and graphical brillience is five things. The detail on the walls and effects on your weaponary wins you over in just a few seconds. You walk up to one of the soldiers and you hear some voice acting, its reason able and would have made Zelda better but with Metroid it makes it class. Each character has there own voice, each perfect in detail.
You aim you weapon for the first time, the feel and the accuracy is just amazing and really makes Metroid Prime 3 the best in the series even rivaling Halo.Nintendo have also added a few other things to do with the wii-remote,such as pulling levers and pressing buttons. This is rather a gimmick but feels very realistic,as though you really are Samus.
The game-play is really fast and action packed, along with the remote it makes it really exciting. The boss battles are quite easy but get harder as you progress, probably the best one is with Meta Ridley, its really intense and exciting.I wouldn't say this is a First-Person shooted, because of the amount of puzzles there are and the exploration involved in completing the game.Though toward the end Nintendo have added some a boring point-less quest, this really make the game slightly rubbish and lasts you ages.Luckily it is the only boring thing.
Overall:
The game give s you a real adrenalin rush and is really realistic in graphics, sounds and game-play.
+ Graphics are great
+ The action is fast and exciting
- Loading times are a tad long
- Really long boring quest near the end
+ Voice acting
Does anybody feel that this could have been another chance to create a good online first person shooter, of course this would require several more chracters.
EDIT: sorry forgot to metion review - brilliant, couldnt agree more, great game.
Okay this is where I make myself really unpopular and probably hated throughout the world of Wii owner's forever more BUUUUT:
I liked 2D metroid a little bit. But hate the prime series. I don't have anything against fps's at all. Call of Duty 1 for PC is one of my favourite all time games.
But Metroid prime is a medicore story with medicore puzzles, way too much back tracking and very lapsed shooting mechanics. It tries to be an fps, action adventure but imo it fails completely.
Now a similar game is Oddworld: Stranger's wrath. That game is an odd mix of fps, action-adventure and it works amazingly well. They got everything just about right with it.
Metroid 3d is just a game series i will never like unless they either up the challenges, remove the back tracking and constant enemy respawns and also just make the shooting mechanics better. (i've not played the wii version but played ther other 2).

I used to think I was weird when I played Metroid Prime on the Gamecube - everyone else seemed to think it was amazing - I found it completely uninvolving and tedious - nice graphics but not much else going for it, the atmosphere and gameplay left me totally cold. I'm still wavering on whether to try number 3 on the Wii - some people compare elements of it to Halo, which I thought was a superb game - and make me want to go out and buy it - then others describe parts of it that sound like the GC one, which makes me want to run a mile. Maybe I'll finally give it a try soon, I can always trade it in if it's like the 1st one
EDIT
I finally got hold of a copy, and I think it's superb. I didn't like the ones on the Gamecube, but I'm really enjoying this one. Much better atmosphere, more engaging environments, it actually feels like you're wandering around an interesting immersive world, rather than just solving pointless problems set by a game designer (which is how the GC ones made me feel).
It's the closest thing I've found to Halo on the Wii (though there are more puzzle elements than Halo, but not enough to get in the way of the gameplay.)
