Ok then. after reading Doylen's review of Red Steel (or Red Steal

), I thought I would have a stab at it. I know it's not a recent game, but I enjoy writing these, and, as long as it doesn't offend anyone, it's not doing any harm.
Red Steel

When I first heard about the Wii, I had big hopes for any first person shooter games released on it. I mean, with it's innovative control system, how could it fail?!
When I heard about Red Steel, my hopes grew even greater! Not only were we going to have a first person shooter, using the Wii-mote to aim our gun as if we were really holding it. But we were going to have sword fights! Oh yes! It may only be me, but as soon as I saw the Wii's controller, I thought swords!
I've never been a fan of hack and slash type games before, where's the fun in pressing B or A to have a sword fight? But with this controller it could really work!
But enough of my anticipation, lets move on to when the game is actually with us.
When I first played Red Steel, I wasn't dissappointed! The graphics were smooth, and the guns felt good. But as you play further in to this game, you start to feel that the only reason you're enjoying it is because of the controls. If this was an Xbox, or PlayStation game, you wouldn't be happy!
Don't get me wrong though, this is a good game, enjoyable and a good first attempt. But it won't jump out and say 'LOOK AT ME!'.
The sword fights are very enjoyable! It's not as an exact thing as I had hoped though. I had been thinking that the sword would follow your movements exactly, but that's not how it is. They can also sometimes feel slightly sluggish, and un-responsive. Definately a fun addition though!
One thing that I do really like, is the gun's physics. As you fire them they feel, satisfiying! I'm not too sure why, and it's probably something you have to play to experience, but they are a great thing!
The storyline is enjoyable, it's not a deep and interesting one maybe, but it is fun! Like those bad action movies, where the hero survives countless shots to the head, cars rammed in to his chest and high tech fighter plane chases. You don't mind all these things however, because it's an enjoyable experience. So, in short, if you buy this game expecting something truly special, you will be dissapointed. If you buy this game expecting cheap thrills, you'll love it!
Summary
Graphics 8-10: Smooth and quite impressive.
Gameplay 7.5-10: The controls make this fun to play, but there are much better shooters out there, on different formats of course./
Multi-player 9-10: Very enjoyable, a huge laugh! No online play though.
Sound 7-10: Good sounds in a gun fight, I'm personally not too keen on the sound track though.
My advice, wait for Red Steel 2!
Thanks for reading!
