Our gaming adventures have got violent, elaborate and more labyrinthine in recent times. Games are not just for kids any more. But with so many games aimed at young adults, graphics and gore seem to have taken over the fun factor of games. Then something crazy happened. Those young adults are being challenged by an upcoming generation. They want to bring the fun of gaming back for all the family, and what a way to do it!
Big Brain Academy is another stepping stone for the range of family friendly games brought to the Nintendo Wii. From older gamers to school bound kids, it offers fun for all age groups. Similar to the Nintendo DS title, it is an educational game that puts fun back into learning. The younger adults and maestros of the gaming public may find the ability to enjoy this mostly new gaming experience, will pivot largely on how they handle the repetitive mini games.
The educational program is an interesting one. Big Brain Academy tests you in five categories, analyzing the speed and accuracy of your answers into a metric weight. Here are just a handful of screenshots from the many mini games you'll be playing.

The smarter you are the heavier your brain. There are three different activities in every category and each of them can be practised individually. Good results earns medals, which can unlock the extremely hard expert difficulty. The games design and layout has improved since it graduated from the Nintendo DS. The puzzles are filled with inventive illustrations, and will envelope you in the world of the most entertaining classroom imaginable.
Like Wii Sports, Big Brain Academy involves all those unusual Mii characters you've created. It's fun to see the hallways of the menu screens bustling with the many pupils of the Academy. There is also online features incorporated into the game. You have the ability to send your student records to registered friends. The feature although small, can generate fun competition. There are three multiplayer games that give you a break from the more demanding tests. The best way to excel in these skills is to play solo.
All in all, Big Brain Academy will be liked by some and not by others. The hardcore gamers will wince at its featherweight mini games and family friendly approach. Less fastidious gamers will find the quick thinking challenges, and the desire to exceed in the tests, far outweighs any negatives brought forth by critical hardcore gamers.
Big Brain Academy is a must have for Wii owners. It is easily one of the most entertaining healthy-gaming titles in ages, and it surpasses many previous learning orientated games. Those who can't keep their heads in a book for five minutes and prefer to blow stuff up with a machine gun bigger than your car, will probably give this one a miss. They'll miss out.
