Gameplay:
The gameplay is basically what you would expect to find in an oldschool mario game, such as Super Mario Bros. 1. It also has the items and leveling up aspect of any paper Mario game and the two come together quite well to make this amazing game. The enemies have health and you take their health away by jumping on them or in bowser's case you can breathe fire at them as well. You can get other powers with beings known as pixl's they're named that because the world is made of squares to get the old school feel. You have 8 mandatory pixl's and 3 optional ones, each have their own unique abilities that can be either extremely useful or just fun to use. There are 8 chapters with 4 stages in each, all of the chapters are in weird and wonderful places with unique NPC's and enemies to each. Now about the story, it's pretty generic in how an evil villain named count Bleck is trying to destroy the world and Mario, Princess peach, Bowser and Luigi are the ones to save it.
Controls:
The controls are spot on, as with any Mario game. The jumping is smooth and fluent, the walking is great, everything about the controls are perfect. You feel like you are actually controlling Mario, the only thing that limits that is the controller, you use it sideways like a virtual console game and this is perfect for a game like this. When you use items you are often required to shake the wii remote, or click a target. If you point the remote to the screen without an item being used or anything like that, you get Tippi to come up on the screen and search for hidden secrets like a door or a set of stairs to discover a secret item or to continue in the game. Tippi is the first pixl you get.
Extras and Unlockables:
There are cards you can collect which give information the character it depicts, there are over a hundred of them to collect and they are scattered all across the game for you to find. There are also 3 optional pixls that you can find, there are two areas called the pit of 100 trials in both flipside and flopside. Both of which end up with you fighting either fracktail (the first boss of the game) or wracktail (made especially for the flopside pit). These bonuses to collect add to the replay value, which is often with unlockables.
Online Play:
Again there isn't any online play, but for this one it doesn't even have local multiplayer, but having said that it would be hard to incorporate that into a game such as this...
Overall:
Fantastic game that gave the series some new life, it's one of my favourite games of all time. Next to Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario Bros. 3.
Rating:
8/10

I thought it was dire. Quite easily the worst game I've had the misfortune to own and play on the Wii. Got rid of it after a couple of days of owning the wii

Completely agree, too much text and a boring game - 3/10 from me.

Started this game today and so far I'm enjoying it very much!
After many recommendations I picked up Paper Mario on the VC some months back and found it to be one of the best N64 games I've ever played! This seems very similar already, the main difference being the way the battles are done now(Something I'm undecided as to whether I prefer or dislike ).
The humour is still there which is the key aspect of this game! Brilliant writing and plenty to chuckle at! The 2-D to 3-D feature works excellently and really adds a lot to the game.
Just some first impressions for you there

You can make the text go faster. Also if you actually read the text you will see the humour behind the game...
Humour, My god how old are you?
It's just a god awful game, painfully slow and repetitive. Some 'nice' features like the little things that have different abilities but overall I wouldn't play that game again If I were paid.
You wouldn't believe it was released on the same console as Galaxy
