Pro Evo Soccer Review !

After playing Fifa 08 I was left perplexed by how well a football game could be played on the Wii. It is not a console which is suited for football games but Fifa done an outstanding job on the controls but the gameplay was poor e.g. no career mode.

This left me excited by the prospect of pro evo coming out but the question is … is it better than Fifa? Well a quite resounding yes. The controls are utterly amazing. I have never played a football game so breathtaking. The ability to move a player who hasn’t got the ball into space and then to pass to him and score makes you feel like your in the game.

One downside is that there is no master league but there is a career mode and you have to enter your team into different competitions and gradually the teams get better. After every game you win you have the ability to take 1, 2 or 3 players from the team which is really handy when your playing Man Utd for example.

Also the sound is not great. The commentators say the same thing over and over and often get annoying. The crowd is very good though. For example for Liverpool the sing You’ll Never Walk Alone.

The online mode is particularly pleasing as I am yet to have a game lag (and this happened a lot on Fifa). The online mode is rather simple either play someone around the world or in your friend rooster. It works well and the online mode is ultimately a success.

I would give the game a medium difficulty because the controls take a while getting used to and this makes it all the more pleasing when you score a 40 yarder (I’ve only done it once). Even for hardcore gamers it will take some getting used to so if you’re interested in football and want a challenge go for this. For casual gamers it will take a while to get used to it but once you have got used to it, it gets easier. Fifa 08 tried to target both by using to control systems.

nice review, I got this friday night, traded in Fifa for it. Amazing controls as mentioned in the review. Amazing game, I am currently updating all the names of teams though (only downside I seen so far)

I have been contemplating buying this for some time, i've played most of the previous titles on ps2 but the wii's control scheme put me off a little.

However after reading this review i'm very tempted, just have to wait till payday now and see where I can find the best price...

Seriously, if you are a fan of football games and football in general, this is the best football game you'll have played for a long time!

People are put off by the control system, but it's that which makes the game so great!

As a die hard football fan I want to buy this but Mario Galaxy is also a game i really want lol. Dunno if you have played PES on the other systems but it lagged really bad, does it ever lag this bad on the Wii version?
