Mario Strikers Charged Review
'EDIT' - This is a better version please comment
Will Mario strikers win the winning goal? or will it get the red card?
Players :- Up To 4
Wifi - Yes.
Mario and friends return for another sports game, the follow - up to Mario Strikers on theGamecube. Mario Strikers Charged Football (MSCF) is a football game,at its core but with a Mario twist, 5 Vs 5 (4 players and one AI keeper) Sadiums witch have diffrent them to them ie 'The Vice' it looks like a normal football pitch, but if u get checked into a wall a nasty shock awaits, with the inclusion of items and weapons of the mario universe, Red and Green shells galour.
First You need to choose your team, witch has a Captin, Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi etc witch are all judged and grouped by Attack Defense, Power Balnaced Or Playmakers with a few unlockables then you choose three teammates shy guy, hammer bro, toad monty mole etc, witch are also grouped by Attack Defense, Power Balnaced Or Playmakers. Also you have a Kepper who is Kitter but is controlled by the AI unless the opposing team uses a Mega Strike goal
Gameplay
The games main machinic is mega goals witch are performed holding the shoot button (B) till the character charges up and performs there specialty shot, If you do this with your Captin they will perform a Mega strike goal, witch can be between 3-6 shots, these can be a real game changer if you can score them, witch brings in the Wii controllers functions, if a Megastrike if performed, the opposing teams keeper will have a little mini game where with the Wii remote they point at the screen and try to save the goals from going in. To tackle you just waggle the Wii remote and you'll check the opposing player, and there are no penalty's, free kicks and red/yellow cards, witch is great and doesn't stop the madness of the match, but newer players may find they will just keep waggling the remote to try and get the ball.
Game Modes
MSCF has a full single player witch is a series of tournaments witch is the way to unlockcharacters and stadiums etc, but it gets boring after a while and the AI tends to use cheap tacticts on harder difficulitys or barly tries on the easyer ones but this one of the first Wii games to have full online capable online Wi-Fi feature, with online VS once a new set of friend codes have been given witch is great as 9/10 times its got a little lag but its very playable. Don't have any Friend Codes? well you can play against anyone but sometimes this takes time and from my time with the game its more laggy for some reason, anyway its great and you bring a friend online if you wish also there are daily, friends and long term leader boards for players and a 'player of the day section'. Also all the main features are carried to the online and offline games.
Graphics/Sound
The graphics are great in MSCF And they dont change online witch is great especially on a HD -TV but some of the characters look bad at certian times, but the framrate stays smooth when theres alot of action going on.
The sound in the game isnt so great, it mostly just reused from the Gamecube version and the sound from the wii remote in my time with the game would cut out or not be there at all, The music in the game in the menus is allways the same and just repeats and repeats over and over again.
Replay Value
Mario strikers charged football is great if you have a group of friends and its easy to pick up and play, you can change the settings so you can have tournaments and timed games or games up to a certian goal limit or use cheats that they give you to make players bigger, or smaller, or no mega strike goals etc. And the online multiplayer is still going after this amount of time, where some other games may be online 'Ghost towns'
'Mario strikers charged football is great with group friends or want some serious online on the Wii, but a lack of difference between the single/online/offline game bring this game down but is still a great buy.Mario Strikers Charged Football.' 8.0/10
Gameplay - 8
Game Modes - 7
Graphics/Sound - 7
Replay Value - 9
