It's a weird feeling. I've never met him - he was about 60 and lived in Glasgow. Real character - always cracking jokes and talking about music. He played the guitar.
I used to link up with him through webcam on Messenger.
Just died of a heart attack in September, but the message has only just filtered through to me as his step-daughter has been sending messages out to everyone in his msn contacts.
I've always wondered how you would ever know if someone you chat to online died. This is the first time it has ever happened to me, and I feel really upset.
Today is a mad day for me - I'm doing 10 things at once. And suddenly this has knocked me sideways.
Games owned (that I play): EA Playground, Endless Ocean, Excite Truck, Ghost Squad, Gottlieb Pinball, HotD, Kororinpa, Link’s Crossbow Training, Mario Kart, Mario Party 8, MySims, Pinbusters, RE:UC, Super Paper Mario, SSB Brawl, Wii Fit, Wii Play, Wii Sports
Whilst getting upset over someones death is only natural. I tend to cut forum/online life of from my proper life. For me, there's too many complications about proper online 'friends' and so forth due to the oddness of the internet.
P.s. your day is ''mad'' if you allow it to be. I often find those people with so-called ''hectic'' lives etc, live for the feeling of being busy. I often find that those with ''quiet'' lives usually live more busy lives than the ''hectic'' people.
In fact, I guess most of us (through-out our lifetime)generally have the same amount of busy and un-busy days, only certain lifestyles can really be described as ''mad''...etc...*stop going-on*
Well, like I say - hope your greivence? passes. gl hf.
Your upset because someone you've never met has died .
OK. I can understand that to a certain degree.
My aunt recently lost her husband at the age of 47 , so things like this get put into perspective for me -to the degree where i really wouldn't be bothered if any of you died tomorrow, especially the gloryhunting munters (Sorry but it's true )
Seriously though - R.I.P
60's no age.

My dad died the other month, and my mum lost a husband of 40 years. It doesn't cloud my judgment that anyone could feel sadness for a friend made via the net that has died, esecially since she stated they often messeged and went on webcam. To assume intenret isn't part of real life anyway is ignorant anyway. My friend has been in a relationship with a guy shes known for 5 years and originally met via the net. The net is part of real life. One's life span and aging doesn't become suspended in time just because one logs online.

Add it or be doomed. And let me know if you add it (or you certainley will be doomed)
It's rough. I'm on a site that has many terminally ill peeps on it. Very difficult to keep track of who's still around.
An odd thing happen last year - a site I visted reasonably frequently disappeared. It turned out that the owner had died unexpectedly, and his family had decided to remove the site (because the hosting was expensive for one thing). I found this out because I googled the site and found references to it on various forums - seems I wasn't the only one touched by his demise, even though none of us had talked to him (there wasn't a forum on the site), we'd all used the site for years.
It's seems like i've got competition for the sites biggest £"$%£!, poor form lads; death is death, you can know someone through msn just aswell through speech face to face, to an extent.
People are entitled to their opinion. But I am a very genuine person, and I like to make friends online.
I send pressies to various people all over the world that I've never met, and take great delight in getting packages back occasionally.
So although I obviously can't be as upset over this as i would be a close friend or relative, it still hurts.
Trouble is, the older you get, the more people you know keep dying. Grim.

I am still on a forum for a potentially very dangerous motorsport. In the past two years, drivers in this sport have met their fate on the course that we all talked to on a regular basis. That makes it so much tougher when you know a competitor in the sport and you've talked with them about the sport and their career on the forum, only to see it take their life.
