Default Caesar’s Foolproof Guide on how to ‘Pwn’

It would appear that the term “to pwn someone” is the cause of some confusion on these forums. I hope clarify this strange Internet terminology with the following post.

The word ‘pwn’ is a derived from the word ‘own’. If you were to ‘own someone’ then you would be beating, or humiliating, said person at a certain issue. It is possible to ‘own’ someone at an issue that is not limited to a competitive subject. I believe the word ‘own’ is appropriate as to own someone or a thing, you are implying you are their superior, as you are the possessor.

The word ‘pwn’ is believed to be a typo of the word ‘own’. As, on most keyboards, the letter ‘O’ is adjacent to the letter ‘P’ people made the mistake of typing ‘pwn’ instead of ‘own’. The terms are most popular on online computer games and other video games as they are directly competitive. To defeat your opponent on said video game would show your superiority at the game and thus entail you to claim you ‘owned/pwned’ your opponent.

Ways you can ‘pwn’ someone:
1. Point out minor and trivial mistakes that would have little bearing on the current subject. By identifying said mistake you are showing your ability to notice an incorrect piece of information. However, side effects for this type of ‘pwning’ would be: loss of friends, prevention of the ability to make friends, appearance of being a tard.
2. Point out major and important mistakes that completely ruin a person’s argument or statement. By doing so you are showing you are far more intellectual as you have shown that person what they are saying is incoherent rubbish, thus humiliating them. Side effects would be increased size of ‘ePenii’, increased reputation, making one more person in the world hate you.
3. If playing a competitive video game take advantage of every small victory, no matter how trivial and make sure you remind the ‘pwnee’ of the ‘pwning’ at every available opportunity.
4. Use wit and innuendos to take what someone has said completely out of context. In light of your comment, readers of the ‘pwnee’ will not take their statement so seriously, and may even provoke laughter in their general direction.
5. If someone attempts to ‘pwn’ you, refer your comments towards their mother. This can be done simply by stating that you had at some point had sexual intercourse with their mother, or take that person’s last comment and replace the appropriate words with “Your mum” to complete the sentence. However this is considered a relatively desperate and immature method of pwnation , but is very effective.

Feel free to had your own pwnings to the list, or brag about your own experience in pwning someone. I would also like to add that by beating Snazy to this guide, I have pwned him.

Thank you.

Am I the one who started this because of my comment in a WiiFit thread about a guy getting "Pwned" by his BMI?
I would just like to say a little history on this term. It got insanely popular after a coding mistake in World of Warcraft. When you got beat by a NPC in a certain area, it was supposed to say "You have been owned" but instead it said "you have been pwned." Not sure how reliable that is, but sounds reasonable.

P.S. If you want a more Brief summary, just look it up on Urban Dictionary.

In the morning I will prove i have not 'been pwned' since we have already address this elsewhere...I believe we had a range of definitions, and found the blame was down to Monkey bringing the word 'pwn' to our attention...

I believe Nutter was in the describing thread...anyone find it?

I do the 'pwning' round here...good try though

I'm sure it's been around longer than World of Warcraft. And the mistake is basically how I explained it. Just a simple typo that then spread like a disease, like Snazy's unhealthy incurable obsession for a Bush... pwned
